Swan Environmental Services were commissioned by the client to provide Design, Principal Designer and CQA services for the capping of a 20,000m 2 landfill waste cell. The works comprised: -CQA supervision of the installation of a fully welded 1mm geomembrane lining system encapsulating the underlying waste cell -CQA supervision of the installation of a protection geotextile directly over the geomembrane liner -Scheduling of geotechnical testing of lining materials incorporated in the works -Supervision of placement of restoration soils upon the geotextile protector
Swan provided a full time CQA Engineer to oversee all aspects of the works, under the guidance of a visiting project manager, and act as a contact between Client, Contractors and the Environment Agency.
Swan reviewed all aspects of the works during the production of a CQA Validation Report including assessment of CAD drawings produced by the contractor’s surveyor to ensure that the works complied with the CQA Plan and Engineering specification. The CQA Validation Report was submitted to the Environment Agency for approval of the works conducted.
